From setting a mood before the Ceremony starts, to having the perfect music for dancing at the reception – and everything in between – the music for your wedding day is an important part of the tapestry of sights, sounds and scents that will make this special time unforgettable.
A few things to keep in mind as you go about choosing your music:
- Make a list of special songs that you want to integrate into your ceremony or reception, so you can make sure your chosen music makers have them in their repertoire.
- You may choose to have different musicians for your wedding ceremony and your reception. For example you may want a guitarist for a simple ceremony on the beach and a DJ for a reception at a local banquet facility. Don’t feel you must choose a “one size fits all” musician.
- For indoor venues, acoustics will be a factor. Check in advance that your music will sound good where you will be.
- Make sure that your chosen venue allows you to bring your own musician.
- Make sure your venue can accommodate your musicians requirements (electrical outlets, space to play, etc.)
- If you are not already familiar with your chosen musicians, get references and audition your candidates to make sure you get just what you are looking for.
Music can really set the tone and spirit of the whole event, so plan ahead, ask lots of questions, and most of all, listen carefully.
